A Peek at the Week
This week we learned more about emotions. We played “pass the emotion” and practiced making the different facial expressions. We also took our pictures making the different emotions faces, and will be making an emotions book to send home.
Centers: This week was “children’s choice” for centers. They chose the train center, tent with books to read or a colorama game to play, paper fun making fun creations, goop with beads to pull out, a surprise project, and shelf toys.
Books: A Wocket in My Pocket, The Way I Feel. Vocabulary words: happy, sad, angry/mad, excited, surprised, bored, silly, disappointed, frustrated and scared were some of our vocab words this week.
Physical Therapy Group
The students had fun using the scooter boards in PT group with Renee this week.
Important Reminders
~ If your child is sick, he/she should be symptom free (vomit, fever and diarrhea) for 24 hours before returning to school. This will help to prevent the illnesses from being passed around! No one wants to be sick for the holidays.
~ Please send your child in with hat and mittens each day for outside playtime.
~ Sending your child with mittens instead of gloves is preferred…it easier for the students to put mittens on independently…and independence is the goal in preschool.
A Look Ahead…
~ In December we will learn about Positional/Place words, Food and Meals, Holidays, and Manners/Feelings.
~ In January we will learn about winter, action words, and dinosaurs.
~ The sign up to read dates have been confirmed and have been sent home. If you have a conflict with your assigned date, please let us know as soon as possible.
Extra! Extra!
~ Did you order Flip and Learn: Writing letters from Scholastic Book Clubs? If so, we have something that was missing from your order which Scholastic just mailed to us. Please let us know and we’ll get it to you ASAP.
~Mud Puddle anyone? We have misplaced the Mud Puddle book and kit. Can you please check at home for it? Thanks so much!
~Schoolwide reading program update: We have had some students complete their bronze and silver treasure maps! Congratulations for all their great reading! Please continue to read for “treasures” with your child. When your treasure map is complete, please send it back to school and your child will get a reading ribbon and his/her picture will be displayed in the front hallway.

A Peek at the Week
This week we learned about emotions. We looked at pictures of people showing different emotions, and practiced making those faces ourselves. We sang, “If You’re Happy and You Know It”, adding verses for if you’re angry, sad, tired, hungry. We made a happy and sad face “puppet” which we then used for a circle activity asking, “How would you feel if…?”
Centers: This week we made a happy/sad face puppet project, and completed some large floor puzzles. The floor puzzles were very challenging, but we felt really good after we worked hard and completed the puzzles! We also had an emotions game where the children had to look at the picture of the person, decide what emotion he/she was feeling, and put that on the chart in the appropriate spot. Shelf toys, train table, journals and coloring were other centers open this week.
Books: I was So Mad, How I Feel: Scared Vocabulary words: happy, sad, angry/mad, excited, surprised, bored, silly, and scared were some of our vocab words this week.
Physical Therapy Group
This week the students used the scooter boards to deliver packages to “houses”. The packages were colored beanbags, and houses were colored hoops lying on the floor. The children had to match the colors to deliver the packages to the correct house. They had to listen to Renee’s directions and bring a certain number or color back with them. It took a lot of attention to do this activity, which everyone did quite well!
