November 29, 2007 Afternoon Edition

A Peek at the Week
This was a week of learning about furniture and utensils. We talked about the pieces of furniture in our homes, and the appropriate rooms to put the furniture, as well as what we use the furniture for. In addition, we talked about forks, knives, and spoons and when and how to use each one. We answered questions such as “do you eat soup with a fork?”
Centers: same/different coloring sheets, sensory table with cornstarch and water with utensils, dry erase boards where the students practiced drawing shapes and furniture, dollhouse, looking through furniture fliers, and kitchen.
Vocabulary words: chair, table, desk, couch, oven, stove, refrigerator, sink, toilet, tub, bed, and lamp.
Physical Therapy Group
Please have your child wear sneakers and pants (no dresses) on Wednesdays.
The students participated in an obstacle course set up in an empty classroom this week. Crawling through a tunnel, jumping on a trampoline, walking across a balance beam, doing a somersault, and jumping down off a mat were part of the obstacle course.
Important Notices
*AHHCHOOO!
We are working on reminding the students to sneeze and cough into their elbows. This is a great way to help prevent the spread of germs as we approach the cold/flu season!
*Reminder: Please call or email if your child is going to be absent.
A Look Ahead…
* In December we will be talking about positional/place words, food/meals, holidays, and manners/feelings.
*The school will be starting a “caught being great-RAFT” incentive program next week. A notice will be sent home soon explaining the program! We look forward to lots of “caught be great” tickets!
Extra! Extra!
*My email address
is knagy@cromwellct.org
*Thanks to Mrs. Valentin (in the morning class) for the amaryllis plant. We are enjoying watching it grow, and will be putting our measurements on a chart.
* We are in need of a few items: boxes of cornstarch (for sensory play) and one particular kind of odorless dry erase markers made by BOONE. They come in a package of 6 or 8 and are much smaller than typical dry erase markers with erasers built into the caps. Perhaps it was Wal-Mart or Kmart where we originally purchased them? If you can help us, that would be GREAT!

Have a nice weekend!

Please have your child wear sneakers and pants (no dresses) on Wednesdays. This week the students enjoyed the nice fall weather out on the blacktop and Kindergarten playscape. We practiced hopping, skipping, running, galloping on the blacktop. We also practiced walking with one foot in front of the other on the lines around the blacktop. Then we practiced climbing up the ladder to the tunnel slide and sliding down and finished with some jumping jacks.
